Here we go again! End of year, lots of reminiscing, list of books, golden memories… And one of the most wanted events is the Book Kaleidoscope, hosted by the one and only Mbak Fanda 🙂
This year didn’t bring me many options of book boyfriends. There are no guys who really captured my heart. But still, there are some memorable ones. Without further ado, here’s my version of the top 5 book boyfriends in 2013:
This one is not the president, but the vampire hunter 😀 Abe Lincoln never been portrayed more badass than in this book. He’s cool, tough, brave, and one of the most successful vampire hunters in the US history. Ok, maybe he’s not as dandy as Obama or as handsome as the JFK. But he slayed enough vampires to free the slaves in America!
Eugenides or Gen, in the beginning was very annoying and I can’t imagine to put him in my list of book boyfriends ever. But during the third book of the series, he literally melted my heart. His sacrifices (his hand!!), his hard decision to become the King of Attolia, and his deep, complicated love for Queen Attolia (or Irene, what a sweet name), that nobody could see, all were captured perfectly in that third book, and I can’t help but falling in love with Gen- the former thief of Eddis. And who should play Gen in the movie? James McAvoy. With his poker face and high brows, he’s a true Gen.
He’s not a typical hero. He’s an ex military guy who got wounded in a war, a bit overweight and far from athletic built, had a messy family background, and in the brink of bankruptcy. But alas, Rowling aka Robert Galbraith could portray him in the most humane way as possible. He’s not flawless, but he could make you feel sympathy for him. He’s a good guy, reliable, although did not always make perfect choices. He’s a guy next door, with not so ordinary capabilities to solve a crime!
Hopper is a mysterious young boy somehow connected to Ashley Cordova, daughter of the famous director Cordova, who was found dead in New York. Hopper had a bitter guilt on his past that turned him into a really introvert guy. But turned out, during the investigation of Ashley’s death, Hopper showed his true self: sweet, desperately in love with his past girlfriend, cool, witty and smart. He’s a guy with a tender heart, who fell in love with a wrong girl.
I know, I know, it’s sooooo last decade, right? But rereading Harry Potter series this year without putting Snape in this list seems so wrong to me 😀 Like I wrote in this post, Snape is the kind of guy every girl wants to have. Because, who doesn’t want to be loved like Snape did to Lily? :’) After all this time? Always.
What’s your version? Please do join this cool event 🙂
